forWard Headwall Salesperson Job Description

Steve Ward & Associates (www.swainc.com) is a privately owned prime subcontractor for institutional casework, millwork, and laboratory equipment used in schools, colleges/universities, research/commercial laboratories, and healthcare facilities. Since its founding in 1979, SWA has developed a professional team of sales people, estimators, project managers, installers, and support staff. Our corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility is in Nashville, TN with five regional offices in Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. We perform projects across the Southeastern US.

 We are currently looking for the ideal candidate for the forWard Healthcare Headwall Salesperson position working out of our home office in Nashville, TN.  The candidate will be responsible for cold calling and for contacting existing relationships to drum up business.  The candidate will manage the pipeline of all sales opportunities for the forWard headwall and will serve as the primary sales representative of the forWard headwall in all markets.  The candidate will serve as a willing product representative at all major forWard headwall presentations as well as industry trade shows. (Note: this will include out of town travel).  The candidate will work with the Director of Marketing and his staff to provide direction for the development of our forWard headwall website.  The candidate will oversee and manage profit margins on each project estimate in concert with the CEO.  The candidate will help with direction and strategy for the product as he/she receives more feedback from the market.  The candidate will work with and support the forWard team as they process and deliver on the projects that the candidate sells.  The role will require a lot of direct contact via phone, email, and in person with customers, prospective customers, vendors and co-workers.  The candidate ideally lives within a 45-mile radius of Nashville, TN.  If not living in Nashville, the candidate should assume that he/she will be in Nashville periodically for various meetings and coordination with team members.  Travel will vary based on the needs of different projects, sales efforts, etc. but there may be periods of significant travel. 

 We are seeking the following attributes in a candidate:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Ability to work together as part of a collective team
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to generate appointments and make cold calls
  • Ability to manage a sales pipeline
  • Ability to build a working relationship with the customer(s) so that they have confidence in SWA’s ability and performance
  • Ability to communicate to the customer clearly and timely to help our customers feel as though you have a sense of urgency when it comes to their project and meeting their needs
  • Ability to identify risk and manage accordingly
  • Ability to “juggle more than one ball at a time”
  • Ability to problem solve by “thinking ahead” with conceptual ideas with the next person in mind
  • Communication skills (ability to communicate well with all levels)
  • Mechanical knowledge is a plus
  • Field experience is a plus
  • Maintain a positive attitude
  • Ability to comprehend and use multiple digital technology devices and platforms
  • Deal with all people based on integrity, trust and accountability
